Adorkaville Disaster

Salutations all. I have plenty of excuses as to why I have not posted in nearly a year but it will only be as stated…excuses. So I will not touch on that and stick to the purpose of this blog…to honor Princess Kofi and those who continue to follow her and her teachings.

Not only have I not posted, I also have not checked on her followers at the MAUC in Florida. I reached out to them not too long ago to see how everything was going with Adorkaville and their endeavors but to my surprise they advised that all the buildings on the property aside from one home were destroyed in March! I couldn’t believe it.  They posted it on their website that it happened: http://www.maucinc.org/news-and-updates . How could this happen?! Why did this happen!? Why did no city or state official stop this?!
They informed me that their fight with the city of Jacksonville never ended. The Municipal Code Enforcement came out and began destruction on the buildings simultaneously so that it could not be stopped. How evil.  Why is there only one building left? They advised that this home belongs to the church and that they have been battling to save it as well. It sounds like there is a lot of turmoil around this home and the person dwelling in it.

I asked them, like so many of you are probably wondering, if they had tried to secure legal representation to prevent this. They did, but no one would take the case without control. Why is that people think they can have all power when their purpose is to ASSIST? I’m all too familiar with this in my personal life. It’s sickening. They’ve applied 3 times to have the community recognized as an historic landmark as well as promote tourism for an international heritage trail with the city, but to no avail each time.  They are doing amazingly well and know it will all work together for the good. I admire their optimism. But I can’t help but wonder what more could I have done? What more could WE have done as a world. Why is that people read about situations like this but refuse to do anything? Why is it that Jacksonville seems to assist on destroying this community rather than embrace it?  Out of all my research, there seems to be no other place like it in the West or the world.

I asked them what they are doing now, but they only say that God has big plans and that they are working on some things. I love their quote “God has more power than the devil and all his evil forces put together!” They are some true Christians and I know their Jesus is proud to have such bold soldiers in His army.
I still feel terrible about this but I will continue to show my support. The people of this church are such warm and God fearing people. All they aim to do is honor an African Princess who came to the West with divine plan from God and continue the work of the founder of the community, Rev. Dr. Nyombolo.  We all (who care) should show our support. I will be praying for them and doing what I can. I just don’t understand why so many notable authors/historians such as Richard Newman and Barbara Bair, Universities, and Theses have been written about the Princess and the community but Jacksonville doesn’t seem to care. Very puzzling.

I leave now with questions for everyone. Why do you think this happened?

Until next time.
