Although much time has passed since my last posting, activities against Adorkaville have yet to cease. Now the City of Jacksonville wants to demolish the remainder historical buildings (including the church). They said they will proceed with demolition in 1 to 3 month, but from previous experiences, the city has been known to demolish buildings on site within weeks of their final announcements. The members believe that the city would even proceed in demolition before the Christmas (they have in the pass done such things right before a holiday).
I have been investigating this community’s unique history and have found that they have many enemies and have had many oppositions to try and force them to sale their historical property. It is even sadder that the community’s home city (Jacksonville, FL) has and will NOT help this community or leave them be. The city of Jacksonville will not even recognize Adokraville’s very unique history as the site was nearly declared an official historical landmark, but was stopped by a city council member. I cannot think of any reason for someone to stop this but, sadly, coercion and corruption.
The only way it seems for this community to stop the constant abuse from oppositions and the city of Jacksonville (leans, citations, demolition, etc.), is to go global. The members are not going to let their community be savagely taken without a fight, thus they are taking legal and public actions.
